The paper reports that the indictment was filed on Monday evening and that the minor’s mother, Martha Vanessa Chevalier, has also been charged with trafficking, sexual exploitation and money laundering.

Attorney General Kelmi Duncan said on Monday that the prosecution was working on the case and said that “we still have time to present the conclusive documents,” the newspaper reported.

Franco has not played for the Rays since Aug. 12, 2023. He was placed on administrative leave on Aug. 14.

The 23-year-old shortstop had already been dismissed on charges of money laundering and commercial sexual exploitation. The current investigation relates to sexual abuse, kidnapping and enticement of a minor.
