Blog shares development approach for update

EA College Football 25 looks set to be a critical and, I assume, financial success. It would be a surprise if it wasn’t the best-selling game of the games released in July.

We’ll wait for the numbers to confirm this, but we do know that the game has a Metacritic score of 88 on PlayStation 5. I reviewed it here.

Recently, EA released its planned post-launch updates, which will eventually affect all features of the game.

Below is a breakdown of the issues that will be addressed.

Improved accuracy with lists and similarities

According to EA, some team rosters contain inaccuracies and several of the likenesses need to be updated. This type of issue is normal with so many players in the game. It will be interesting to see to what extent the team corrects the similarities of players across the country.

I wanted to know if there would be any roster updates, and EA confirmed the first one would come near the start of the college football season, which begins August 24.

It’s a long time, and many of us may have already played two or three seasons in our dynasty modes by then, but it’ll still be nice to see the revamped rosters.

Another question I had was whether player ratings would go up or down. EA also confirmed this in its recent note to users.

This is excellent news as it will make the product a more lively and dynamic complement to real-life sport.

Presentation corrections

The EA team is aware of incorrect commentary and missing chants in some schools. This is on their radar, but it’s unclear when all of these issues will be fixed.

All fixes could be part of a start-of-season patch.

Dynasty mode is the one that is causing the most problems for some users. It is definitely playable offline, but many users are having trouble logging in and setting up dynasties online.

Within dynasty, the Super Sims logic needs some tweaking. Too many Cinderella teams are making it to the national championship. I saw a national championship between Fresno State and Washington in one of my simulations.

EA has announced immediate plans to fix those issues. A fix is supposed to address the issue of users entering online dynasties, but some in the comments section of EA’s blog are reporting more issues since the fix was implemented.

Road to Glory Check-in and Patch Preview

Road to Glory is the game that receives the fewest reviews and complaints. Users find it difficult to succeed as a quarterback, especially if you play as a two-star athlete.

I can attest to the difficulty of that part of the game. However, I am embracing the challenge as I log some pretty awful playthroughs in my college career.

Stay tuned for more information on upcoming fixes and a full breakdown of the patch notes once they go live.
